Welcome to Amersham RCC Rides

The idea here is to create an archive of all our routes so that we all have access to them. It's a work in progress, mostly based on my memory when I get home on a Sunday afternoon, but hopefully it'll prove to be a useful resource.

Ride To Windsor The Hard Way

This route was first run last Sunday (2 March 2008) and being one of Paolo's creations it contains a little more climbing than some of our usual Windsor routes!

The ride starts out the same as the other Windsor rides, heading first for Amersham and then on to Chalfont St Giles and Beaconsfield. The route changes upon leaving Beaconsfield where it decends Windsor Hill to Wooburn Green before the steep climb of Wash Hill back to Hedsor. It then follows the lanes through Taplow to come down through Eton Wick to Eton and the cafe (31 miles). After retracing the route through Taplow you drop down to the river at Cookham and climb Winter Hill on the way across to Marlow. There are then climbs to Frieth and from Fingest up towards Studley Green on the way to West Wycombe. Heading out of West Wycombe in the direction of Bledlow Ridge you head down past Saunderton Station before the final climb up to Lacey Green. After that it's downhill all the way to Great Missenden (68 miles).
